Pigtailed Photographer

Any guesses as to who took this lovely shot? How avant-garde!
Clearly the product of a soul unrestrained by convention!
Yet another magnificent expression. I believe this one was meant to embody the vivid juxtaposition of truth and ambiguity inherent in attempting to view one's own neck too closely.
The photographer herself, in pigtails:
A couple days later, at a They Might Be Giants concert for kids at Borders. Here we see one of the underpublished downsides of NYC free events. You cannot arrive less than half an hour early (or more, depending on the event) if you would like a seat, a view, to be within earshot of the performers, etc. Naomi looks pitiful in this picture because she has a cold, a sore on her lip continually irritated by the runny nose, and a bilateral ear infection that has slaughtered two nights worth of adequate sleep. As you can see, we decided not to be too stringent about hair-washing while she was sick. But really, sickness and crappy weather notwithstanding, we needed to get out of the apartment...bopping to faint echos of "Clap Your Hands" in a sea of books, weary parents and shoulder-riding toddlers was good enough for us.
