Three!!

Naomi is officially three years old! She had a little mini-party at school which both Matt and I were able to go to. That night we had a little party with just our family and then a "Curious George" party with mostly school friends on Saturday. For those who cannot tell, Matt is dressed up as the man with the yellow hat in the picture below--he came to read a story to the kids, who all wore Curious George masks, danced around a little, did a little playdough playing, and ate some cake. Naomi did have a couple short-lived meltdowns, but overall I think she had a great time."No more monkeys jumping on the bed"...More playing cards. :)Priceless:I forgot to mention Naomi and I also had another date for a Lollipops concert on Saturday. We signed up for a three concert series, which is fun because we sat in front of the same little girl Naomi's age as last time. This concert was not quite as much of a hit as Peter and the Wolf....but it was fun. It was based in part on Make Way for Ducklings. The next and last concert is in December. Maybe for that one I will actually be on the ball enough to borrow the corresponding book *before* the concert rather than a month later. But probably not. :)

This weekend it is Matt and my turn for a date.

Sisterly Love...

One of my favorite pictures of Naomi and Sage is actually in the post above. What could be cuter than a three year old "reading" to a five month old, really? I can't get enough. She does get rough-housed a bit, but I think Sage is pretty lucky to have such a helpful big sister (even if it does mean gagging a little more than usual while being fed, for instance). PS--Sage eats rice cereal now; she's a total pro, took to it instantly. PPS--She's also been rolling for a while now, though she apparently doesn't do it at school. I don't know why.

Naomi wearing part of her firefighter costume. Naomi has wanted to be a firefighter when she grows up for quite some time (for her second career, she would like to be a bus driver), and at one point said that was what she wanted to be for halloween. At one point she also wanted to be a queen. Then a couple of days ago she became very adamant about wanting to be a "pastranaut" for halloween. She has no idea what an astronaut is or does (am I the only one who has a hard time explaining outer space to a kid who never actually has an opportunity to see stars?). We aren't getting a pastronaut costume. Stay tuned for the final verdict on firefighter vs princess or queen.
Finally, a couple of pictures taken while riding a bike. I just wish Sage were a little older so we could all go on a bikeride together!

Naomi and I went on a little date last Saturday to a Lollipops performance of Peter and the Wolf, followed by lunch. The concert was put on by Little Orchestra Society and specifically geared towards children ages 3-5 (only $12/ticket, btw, and soooo cute--they had four different animals introduce the four families of the orchestra, different instruments vying for the chance to play the different characters' themes, acting out of the story, etc...). Naomi was a little afraid of the "wolf", but otherwise *loved* it, and has been asking us to retell the story of Peter and the Wolf ever since.
This is just to show what a messy eater Sage is!

Naomi and Sage:
Sage's nickname at school is "sleeping beauty" because she sleeps more than the other babies in her class. She makes up for this by not sleeping a ton at home.

The infamous West Indian Parade in Brooklyn. Turns out this parade is much louder than I remember it being seven years ago (I think this was the last time I went)...word to the wise: bring noise-reducing headphones for any babies or little kids! Other than that it was a good cultural experience.
Sage being kissed by three different two year olds at once. So far she has only had one real cold...we will see how long that lasts this upcoming winter.
