Sage is now 1 month old. She really loves to be held, and cries almost every time I put her down. She is not a big fan of bathing, pacifiers, or tight swaddling. She likes to have her head petted like a puppy, seems to kind of like having a little massage, and doesn't mind being on her tummy for a while until she really gets worn out from trying to hold her head up. I think she weighs a little under 9 lbs and is about 21-3/4 inches long, but I could be wrong.
Why do both our kids hate having their hair washed so much?

On Saturday we went to Southstreet Seaport with some friends. They were having some sort of Children's Day celebration. We didn't do very many of the activities because the lines were insane, but we did meet Curious George (Naomi LOVES curious george), Winnie the Pooh, and Madeline:

Turtle:
We got some food at a market and ate it by the pier, where Sage had her first blow-out (onto her clothes and blanket). Luckily it was warm outside--from now on I need to remember to bring a change of clothes for her!

So, I have started studying for Step1. Last week I think I got in about three hours of studying a day. Usually with Sage looking like this:
...ie, with Sage asleep on my lap (technically the boppy, which is in turn on my lap, but you get the point). She is a very happy baby while being held. :-)
More Sage pictures:
Naomi, Sage, and Shane, Matt's very nice cousin who goes to GW, and stayed with us last week while waiting for an apartment to open up. As a result of which, he will probably never have children. (In his words, "There are a lot of crying babies around here...") :-)
Last but not least, look--we have the beginnings of a tomato. Though I have killed both our cilantro plants somehow, which is VERY disappointing.

Well, I take back what I said about Sage being a reasonably ok sleeper. The past couple of days, she has gotten into the habit of eating for half an hour or so on and off, then sleeping for half an hour or so only to want to eat again. Fine during the daytime, but at night this is really getting to be a pain.
Last night I cut Naomi's hair. It was a quick haircut, not involving a ton of cooperation on her part, but all things considered, I think it turned out fine. It did (as always) turn out a little shorter than I intended. I really loved her hair long, but it was frequently so out of control and difficult to keep out of her eyes consistently that this seemed like a better plan for the summer. And Naomi likes it.

Morning pileup.
Sage at Carl Shurz. We spent a lot of time at the park this weekend--pretty much all day Saturday, and half of Sunday. It had rained all week, so the sun was a welcome sight for sore eyes.

2 weeks
At home:
At Central Park:
I think Sage looks a little like an elf in this picture, but I can't put my finger on why:
Can I get a "woot woot"?
Sage is doing well. She weighs over 7 lbs. She has very blonde eyelashes and eyebrows, and opens her eyes a lot (including while asleep...this is a little creepy). She's a good eater now, and while she is still getting up every 2-3 hours at night, she at least seems to be spending less time alert in the middle of the night. This is good.
