Newness

Every week is an interesting one, it seems, full of new things. This week brought several. New things for Naomi: "sweeping" my senior mentor's home (Sinai pairs us with senior citizens to learn about aging, etc) in East Harlem for two hours completely entertained, petting an iguana, hanging out in Sinai's student lounge while Darlene was in the hospital, listening to gospel music, combining words on her own ("I do it"), not eating playdough. For Matt and I: going out three nights in a row (the third with Naomi)(a probable first since Naomi was born, anyway), trapezing.

Matt didn't arch his back enough on this stunt to be caught, but both of us did multiple knee hangs and back flips. It was so cool. This was our semi-Valentine's Day date (actually the day after Valentine's day), and afterward we went to see "Jumper"...which lacked anything resembling a remotely good plot, but was a really cool travel ad and fun to watch. On Valentine's Day itself we went out to dinner since Darlene was still in town so we could leave Naomi asleep, and on Saturday, we all went to a Gospel music competition at the World Financial Center, then ate in Soho. Naomi really liked the ice.

Naomi's preferred method for eating an apple.So now we are low-stress again. Midterms over, finals not for another four weeks. Time to enjoy, revel in the unending newness constantly granted by NYC, by a growing toddler, by an interesting course of study, by relationships, by life.
