More Free Fun...

I love weekends! This weekend we went to a concert by the Little Maestros at Barnes & Noble, walked around Lincoln Center, rode a carousel in a giant heated bubble with a reggae band in Central Park, and played in a very fun pyramid-theme playground near the bubble. And had fun at home, etc. And Matt and I watched a horribly sad (though thought-provoking) movie, When a Man Falls.

This is actually Naomi in Central Park up by our neighborhood last weekend. I brought her to the park in 20 degree weather (dumb)...which is why we did not end up staying very long. But it was still kind of fun.

Naomi has been doing some art lately. A week and a half ago, we went to the Met. It was fun--Naomi was extremely loud everywhere we went (not screaming for the most part, just talking loudly and squealing), but she could point out the "heads" in the sculpture gardens, and shouted "Wow" over and over in the impressionist gallery. We came home with some cute books about art for toddlers. Then last weekend we went to the Children's Museum of the Arts, where Naomi did a little painting, some playing with goop, some coloring, and a lot of taking lids on and off of markers. In the meanwhile, she has been face-painting and coloring with Hannah lately. And here she is fingerpainting with Matt. Oh yeah, and she will also draw on the magna doodle on her own without prompting. I wouldn't say she's *that* into any of this (as compared with, say, CLIMBING EVERYWHERE), but she does kind of like it in spite of her extremely short attention span, so that is fun.

Well, we have been back for a couple of weeks now, and life has been good. School for me has been WAY better this semester than last--the classes are more interesting, we are doing physical exams, I got to sew in two transplant surgeries on Saturday, we have been doing fun things together as a family, and Naomi and I have spent a lot of time slumming the mommy-and-me free trial classes for toddlers in our neighborhood (though in the end we have not signed up for anything, the classes are really, really big here, and pretty entertaining). Matt is working on an interesting deal for work, and we are all just generally happy. That is all I should write for now ...but I do want to start writing more words on this blog, and not just putting up pictures. And I am thinking about writing more about Matt and I too. We may not be as cute as Naomi, but we're people too--and our lives are very interesting to us, in any case, and worth remembering!
